[SHO Continental]

Instead of buying a rebuild or remanufactured starter.. since I'm so cheap and my pockets are empty.. I just decided to replace the brushes in the starter. But with the rest of it worn so much, it'll only last two or three years.

A few details.. the starter has an integrated power distribution block, and gear reduction. (is that just on all newer starters or just SHO?). I used Dupli-Color DE1644 (green) 500 degree engine paint.

I used some Emery Cloth on it.. the starter is now assembled, I had to add some grease to it, and getting the brushes around the commutator was HARD, but after three tries I got it.

I really appreciate your spirit. Very few people these days rebuild starters and alternators. However, some of the great moments in life are doing just that. You won't forget the time you spent doing it 30 years from now. About a year ago, I ordered the brushes and bearings to rebuild the alternator on my Honda, when that time comes. Thanks for the pictures . . . I really enjoyed them!

No problem, I always like to document what I do, and I sometimes use the pictures as a reference when putting it all back together...

Although it doesn't seem too many people noticed this thread, I'll see if I can take a picture of the starter installed on the car. And I can't wait to paint something else green.

It's a good thing my SHO will be taking a nap for the next 6 months. <_< ... to fix everything on it... I'll be making my Lincoln (read my sig) the daily driver..
