The right front suspension on my 2000 Ford Taurus wagon would make a noise when driving on a rough road surface. I was told that it might be a bad stabilizer connecting link a.k.a. dogbone.(See pic above) I replaced the dogbone but found out that it was not the cause of the problem.

My question now is could it be a bad strut that is making the noise?

Sure, it could be. Of course, it could be something else.

Ah, gotcha.

OK some question on that sway bar end link, are those studs on the end link moveable.. (swivel)...

The way they are mountred into the plastic endlink, they dont look like they can move, except the end link itself a circular fashion about the stud?

I can turn/twist my endlink with my hand a bit (when the front wheels tunred all the way to one side, so that I can grab the end link) and I have some clunking sound when I go over bumps..
Just want to make sure its the end links, a mechanic also told me its the end links.

The studs do swivel.

Then I guess my endlinks are ok too..
wonder how the mechanic said that the end links are bad.... they are not broket ar anything..

They are supposed to be a ball and socket joint. When they wear, they develop slop in the joint that is manifested as a clunking or thunking when a bump is hit.

Right on! That was the opinion of my friend the auto mechanic but when I removed the dogbone and replaced it with a new one it did not correct the problem. Now we think it may be the strut.

What say you?

you the endlinks u have are they ood. I might be interested, I think they are the same for a GEN 3 (1996 GL) can someone confirm?

The dogbone is in good condition as far as I can determine.
