When turning the steering wheel, there's a very loud squeaking, or rubbery moaning sound coming from what I think is the front passenger wheel side. I don't see any leaks, and the resevoir is full. I replaced the steering fluid a while back, but I don't think this is related to this. Any help for first troubleshooting steps appreciated!

I had the same issue, but from the drivers side. Check the sway bar links as well as the ball joints. My 2000 sway bay links' bushings were completely shot . The ball joints looked fine, but needed a shot of grease using with a grease needle. I greased them about a month ago and it eliminated the symptom. So far, so good.

I'll try the grease. The sound can be heard outside, so I don't think it's an internal thing like the boot.

The sound you describe was exactly what was going on with my SEL

I pulled the steering wheel boot cover , sprayed it with silicone spray and it stopped
