So yeah..... got a lil time in the garage to myself this morning..... and decided I was finally gonna do it...... not enough $$ for lowering springs (yet ;) ) but i figured i could do with a lil clampage...

the rear wheels went as slick as a car salesman's bowel movement... the front wheels were a PITA... I ended up making my own length of 'bolts' with some "All Thread" so I could A) clamp the front down far enought to make a difference (three coils) and B) keep the bolts from heading straight down into the spring support.

Thats not good for your coils at all, take it from me who just broke 2 coils and needed new struts, coils, mounts, and bearings.

If you're going to go cheap, buy Spring Tech Coils. I would not recommend anyonw lowering their vehicle by HEATING CUTTING or COMPRESSING their springs. Sorry, but I would do like MrBeBop26 stated... TAKE EM OFF ASAP!

Also you're going to have MAJOR camber problems with the clamps. What does this mean? PREMATURE TIRE WEAR!! (Good work Acreature)

Well... I'm posting from Columbia, MO..... i made the two hour trip here yesterday with the speedo pegged at 85, no prob's with the clamps, course I know where all the bad potholes are on the way up here :) so i can avoid em...

but I'm havin my buddy take the car into his shop and check the clamps out, we'll put her up on a lift and see what we can see...

I'm not too worried about tire wear, cuz i gotta get new tires before it starts getting slick anyways...... the goal is to have enough money by then to get some springs as well...

but hey... thanks for the warnings..... i knew i'm being hard on the coils going into this, but if i didn't.. it's nice to know we're all looking out for each other..

As long as you know you're putting the springs through hell, i guess your well enough informed. Do you also know that your struts, spring seats, and tires are also going to wear out very quickly? Is the ride terribbly bouncy? Does the car bottom out at higher speeds? You have lowered the ride height without adjusting the spring rate which is a recipe for disaster. When you break a front coil while doing 85 mph, you'll wish you lowered it the right way
