I've been wondering why in the world my 0-60 times havent budged more than like 1/2 a second since last march. In that time i've kicked the crap out of the belt slip i had...

I got a slightly smaller pulley so i have an extra like 2 psi of boost (just shy of 11 now)
I installed an RPM 216/225 110 LCA cam with appropriate springs
New Supercoupe Crank for a little margin of safety with the boost+revving

Back then the camcorder videos were showing 9.2-10 secs 0-60 thats stock speeds, I attributed that to the belt slipping and actually robbing power instead of spinning the blower fast enough to add it.

Here we are almost a year later and the camcorder vids still show the same time when the car *FEELS* even stronger than ever, you cant add that much boost and such a "wild" cam and not gain any power so wtf??

Then it dawned on the that the speedo must be acting up or something, just slow to react to the rapid changes so I took out the gtec tonight...

Didnt even try that hard, TONS of wheel spin, slow shifting a** transmission and managed to get 7.8 secs 0-60. Whats the deal? thats been the problem all this time?

Anyway here are a couple of new vids:

the classic show a** shifting : slow shifting

(the reason you gotta ease off the gas at the top of 1st to keep from overrevving)

Damn slow a** transmission again: http://ruffryde.rapperdmx.com/videos/scrr-damn-tranny1.mpg
(wtf id up with hanging in 1st at only like 4.5K??)

a better zero to 60 where I tried to ease into the gas : http://ruffryde.rapperdmx.com/videos/scrr-...60-01212004.mpg
(i now know that the speedo is slow to react, but still, watch it anyway :) )

One of my favs: a quick zero to 40 (didnt want it to shift out of 1st)

Below are the cause for concern videos, the reason i made this thread : http://www.taurusclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1351

Ever since i ran through this pretty puddle like a month or so ago i've been hearing this faint (sometimes not so faint) intermittent ticking from the engine (GRRRRR).

I checked the pushrods and rockers : fine
Checked all the rod bearings : fine but changed them anyway
Checked the bottom 1/2 of the main bearings : fine.
Unhooked the belt to make sure it wasnt an accessory and the noise was still there

i'm honestly a little stumped now.
this is the sound:

http://ruffryde.rapperdmx.com/videos/scrr-...ise-startup.mpg
http://ruffryde.rapperdmx.com/videos/scrr-...se-startup2.mpg

Thats my update for the day :) back to seeing whats up with that noise. <_<

The whiring sound... is that the SC? It sounds awsome! As for the ticking noise, that's a tough one. It's not engine knock, right?

The couplers on that blower commonly fail and tick or rattle when they get a little play. It won't affect anything adversely, but will be annoying.

X, its your transmission pump, or related tq converter parts. I've seen/heard that on a sable before, that exact same sound.

The pressure riser you are using causes excessive wear on it, and I think that's why they go out.

email me if you need a hi-po trans, I just recently aquired a ford rotunda AX4S tool kit and plan to rebuild mine here shortly. I've got 4 successful AOD rebuilds under my belt, so I'm sure I can figure the AX4S out. Also, I've been doing some research on better frictions to use, as well as a secret to modifying the valve body (converting it to 1-2-D (electronic OD switch) like the SHO.

I dont think its the coupler, i unhooked the belt and started it up (even held the pulley to keep it from spinning from the air going past the rotors) and i still heard that noise. <_<

Oh man
I really dont feel like unhooking all that stuff and unbolting everything to seperate the tranny from the block in the cold. I'm drawing a blank on what other possible way there is to test and isolate the tranny so see if it is the source. It makes sense since the engine isnt down on power at all.

I'm afraid my tranny is beyond anyones help, for years it has driven me mad with it slow shifting, it think it was cursed from the factory. I'm (still) leaning towards a rebuilt one with shiftkit from phoenixhardparts for $~800, maybe even stepping it up a bit and hooking up with mikey for one of his bulletproof ones. This poor college guy needs a killer deal

7.45secs today. I thought about what they do at the track so i did a quick burnout before doing the 0-60 and it seemed to help a little bit with the spinning. Still got that bump slide slow shift thing going though <_<

I did notice that if u run it up high in the revvs then slam the throttle shut right before the tranny wants to shift, it will shift a bit faster, i'll have to try that next time.

Well I suppose thats great news. Must be a load off your shoulders.
. I give you much props. What I wouldn't give to slap a M-90 under my hood (goose bumps). Although with your setup, I would'nt be suprised if you could get that thing to move considerably faster. Keep shaving them tenths DMX.

love the sound that SC makes. But that tranny is still kicking you a**

As for the speed: I'm pretty sure you have the same transmission as I do (though I could be wrong). In either case, I think the gearing should be about the same (both 3.8's). In the videos I did, when I was pushing 5 grand in second gear, I was passing 65mph on the speedo. In your video, when you get close to 5 grand, you're not even up to 60mph yet

Then there's this sub-arctic weather we have up in WI... my speedo gets muffed up in the cold, today it said I was doing 55 when by the tach I couldn't have been doing over 30mph.

Officer: "Do you know how fast you were going?"

Me: "Um, I have no frickin' idea, Sir. But I am driving an old cop car."

Officer: "Oh, OK. Sorry to bother you."

But I digress...

Drop a bullet-proof tranny in there with a chip, and zoom zoom zoom
