Greetings,
I just had my 93 Taurus, 3.0 Vulcan, 162,000 miles diagnosed by a transmission specialist. The transmission specialist hooked up a portable transmission instrument and we took my car for a test drive. According to his readout, at speed of 35mph, my on-board car computer thinks I’m traveling 60 mph. In addition, his readout showed some slippage on the 4th gear. After the test drive, he wrote up a diagnostic report stating that I have a “faulty†speed sensor. He handed the report to the shop owners and they quoted me $360.00 to repair and replace the faulty speed sensor. They said the job would take 3-4 hours to complete. Anyway, I was curious on how much the part was and called a local auto parts store and was quoted for $19.00. My question is how difficult is it to replace the speed sensor and where is it located?
Kind Regards
