Hey quick question, what size speakers are in the Gen 4.

retchid freaky ford speaker sizes. grr, why must they be different than other car brands with normal sized speakers.

Same reason they use the integrated oval with climate controls and factory radio in one. So you will shell out mad stacks of cash for their muddy $20/speaker "mach" system rather than install your own superior and cost effective aftermarket setup.

You can cut small rings out of 1/2" MDF that will allow you to run a 6.5" component set in the front though.

As a side question. How do you remove the door speakers on a Gen4? Do you need to take the door panels off or can you just pop the grills off to take them out?

In a Gen4 they are ALL 6X8" speakers. Check www.crutchfield.com

5x7's & 6x8's are the same size speaker, the mounting plate is just larger in the latter though.

see i have a buddy with brand new 5x7 eclipse they will fit in a 6x8 whole? if i understand correctly.

Yes they will fit. jtkz13 is correct, they are the same size speaker with a larger mounting plate and both will fit in your car.

Get 6 X 8" speakers, they sound better.
