To Amsoil, Premium Synthetic Motor Oil

Thats right, my baby is running pure synthetic now..

Heres a timeline

0- 3000 miles Factory Oil
3000-6000 miles Motorcraft Synthetic Blend oil
6000 + Amsoil Premium Synthetic Motor Oil

The great thing is that they say you can go 7500 miles between oil changes, and i talked to the guy at the place where i bought it from and he said he has ran it for that long with no problems..and if you use a good filter you shouldnt need to change that either..

Well, i plan on changing the oil every 5,000 miles with amsoil, because in the ford manual it states change the oil between every 3k and 5k miles..

so there we have it..

nice smooth, easy cold starts synthetic oil.

That's cool. I love synthetic oil. I use Valvoline, but I don't think there's much difference between the synthetics.

I need to look into that then - it could be a Duratec thing maybe? My vulcan takes it just fine. They just put it in there when I get my oil change done, so I was just assuming that was OK, lol - probably not the thing to do at a quick lube type place.

Well i called the quick lube place and they said it shouldnt hurt it to put in 5w-30 synthetic.. so then i called ford and they said no no

make sure it is 5w-20 and certified..

The oil filler cap says 5W20 on the 2004 Taurus SE Vulcan I have as a loaner car.

Dude, how am I going to show you? I know I've seen it. My digital cam has been broken for the longest, and replacing it just isn't a priority. If you send me $5 plus shipping I'll buy it and send it to you. I've either seen it at super wal mart or at discount auto parts store. But I KNOW mobil1 makes 5w20.

The main reason automobile manufacturers us low viscosity oils is for fuel economy. I have used 15w50 or 20w50 for many years and many miles without a problem. My Toyota pu ran 335,000 miles before the rod bearing went. My reason for running the thicker viscosity is because I live in SoCal where the temperature can get over 90 and well over 100 in the desert.

Sorry afi, I was technically wrong, but not completely wrong. It says you can use 0w20 in cars that recommend 5w20.

Did you look in your manual? I would be very skeptical of what someone from Ford told me. Bunch of numbskull's usually. <_<

actually i did and it just says 5W-20 thats why i called because i wanted to use mobile 1 5w-30...
