I was talking to the owner of the car and he said it wasn't overheating. He just had oil change done at midas muffler and he smelled something burning and stopped car and shut it off and next thing he knew he saw flames.

that would be a massive oil leak. So sad to see it end.

I had an oil change done once at a commercial shop on my first 1986 Taurus (was lazy) and when I got home oil poured all over the driveway. Seems they forgot to tighten the bolt. Luckily no damage but what a bear to clean the driveway. Do all my oil changes since then.

that is what I don't get. How do these people get a way with.
  • Not Tightening the Oil plug.
  • Over tightening the oil plug
  • cross-threading the oil plug
  • Using an impact wrench to zip on the lugs with out first hand tightening.
This is why I do my own PMs.
Stuff like the Cam Syncro. The warranty shops can do that. But i won't trust Billy-jo-bob-gunner to NOT f(3k my car up.

Rant over. Back to your reg scheduled Thread.

Isn't there a Law against such things happening to a Taurus?
