Hey guys,

So I left home today and about 10 minutes later I notice the "Service Engine Soon" light come on.

Now, I plan to take it into a shop to scope it soon, but in the meantime I was just wondering if the need for a potential oil change could actually be a possible cause for the light to come on? I don't drive the car too often, but it has been about 5 months since I last had the oil changed.

If it's worth noting, I haven't experienced any change in the way the car performs since the light came on.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

No, the light will not come on to tell you to change the oil. Get the code read.
