First time ever replacing the serpentine belt on my 98 duratec taurus. Purchased Goodyear gatorback belt and the tool to move the tensioner. Any advice or any problems you ran into doing this? I hope to do it this weekend with a cold engine and when the car is home. Thanks!

tool may or ma not work. I did this thismornign, and used a 3/8 ratched to relieve the tentioner...worked perfect, althoe its hard to find the square hole it fits into.

It ill be easiest to remove the wheel, splash shield and alt cover.

i usually just get a wrench that is the same size as the bolt on the tensioner and you can actually just try to turn the tensioner as if to unscrew the bolt, and it will loosen the tensioner because most likely the bolt has frozen.
sorry if that's confusing

I do it with out the ratchet... seemed easier for me. Wheel should come off with Alt. Cover too... easiest way.

gator back is a good belt. I also like the little sound you get from a gator back belt
