Hello group,

My passenger side front seat belt on my 2000 Sable has become twisted and stuck. When I pulled away the interior trim panels, I tried to untwist the belt while still mounted to the car. No luck, so it looks like I need to remove the belt to A.) untwist it on the workbench or B. ) replace it with a new one.

Anyone have a procedure for removing and replacing the belt?

Thanks in advance for a reply,

If you can get the belt to release enough to get the twist off the roller and out where you can reach it you can clamp the belt to prevent it from retracting again. this will allow you an opportunity to work the twist past the upper anchor. It may release if you push the belt into the slot manually before you try to pull it out.

If the above technique fails, you will have to remove the trim from the door post so that you can access the retractor assembly. you should be able to realease the roller without removing the roll from the door post.

Good luck, Popeye

Bought a T50 starbit and replaced the bad seatbelt with one from junkyard. It wasn't hard to figure out and had it done in about an hour.
