I remember most everything about the scosche kit when I used it to install the radio in my sable. Now I am installing a radio in my taurus and have a few questions to anyone that can help refresh my memory or help period.

The speaker wiring harness that comes in the kits has a black and yellow wire on it and it is terminated to connect to something else. However, the instructions don't give me an idea as to what those 2 cables are for. They run from the plug out to about 6" and terminate. I am guessing its to connect back somewhere? Any ideas?

Lastly, the blue wire in the aftermarket harness is for the connection to the blue wire on the aftermarket radio. It controls the power antenna. On my sable I hooked it up and it worked like it should. My question tho, how do I make it so the antenna goes up when I turn on the radio, but not go up when I use the CD/Satellite part? I guess its just a pet peeve if you will but it doesn't make sense to have the antenna up for cd's when you don't need it. Unless I have to make some sort of switch for it? Any suggestions?

Thanks

as for the part about making the antenna go up only with the radio.....every aftermarket radio ive installed does this...if yours does not, it is the radio...nothin you can do.

As for the black wire and the yellow wire....well, lack is ground, and yellow is constant 12v.

Didn't understand your first part.

Yes, every radio I have used or hooked up makes the antenna go up when it gets turned on. Regardless if its being used for CD or radio.

Can it be set to make the antenna go up on radio ONLY and NOT when I am using the cd part, or is it going to go up regardless of what I am using?

I think it's possible to hook up a switch to the signal wire that tells the antenna to extend. Not sure how you'd actually go about it, but it's been done before. Just need to figure out which wire it is, and branch out from there with some wire to a switch up front somewhere.

To put a switch in the antenna, mount a SPST switch where you want then run some twin lead into the trunk to the antenna motor signal wire. Cut the wire and splice the twin lead in.

what i meant to say was, every radio ive hooked up functions like i am about to describe.

the blue wire (antenna output) from the radio will cause the antenna to go up ONLY during radio usage, not cd.

the blue with white stripe (amp turn on output) will cause the antenna to go up with radio or cd (whenever the radio is on.)

so either you are wiring it wrong, yor you have a cheap radio that does not do what you want.

IN SHORT: to answer your question...no there is nothing you can do other than check your wiring

I believe it's the headunit......

My alpine would drop the antenna if I went to CD and bring it up for the radio, respectively.

Thats intresting.

According to the install for the DEH-P7500MP, there is only one blue wire. It reads "To system control terminal of the power amp or Auto-antenna relay control terminal." That is about it.

I don't think any of my pioneers worked like your first description. I wish they did tho.

Where do the wires go on the scosche kit? i know they are wires for the speakers but do the speakers hook in the input or output. Then where does the other side hook to. i'm only running to subs. i also need to hook up my switch, someone said you can hook it up to your cd changer if you don't have one there. which wire would i do it with. i have a black/red, a yellow/red, and a grey/red to splice into. thanks folks for all your help. you guys always steer me right.
