Has anyone else, besides me, considered replacing the torque strut mount with rod ends to severely reduce the amount of engine flop?

Are you talking about the little dog-bone mount near the alternator? The problem is finding something that is short enough, someone was looking at trying to use some sort of turn-buckle. If the engine has that much movement I'd check all the engine/transmission mounts.
