I have a 2003 Taurus SE. I am looking to purchase a set of 4 winter replacement rims. Could anyone tell me what size would be suitable for the best winter handling. The current tire size is 215/60R16, but I will be replacing them with snow tires. Thanks.

I think? due to the larger brakes on the 2000+ models only 16" or larger wheels will fit over the brakes. As far as tire size, I wouldn't go larger (wider) than stock for a snow/winter tire.

My parents' 99 Sable has the same brakes as my 2000 Taurus LX, and the Sable has 15" wheels.

I believe they started using the 16" standard in '01. You'll need 16" rims to clear the brakes. Why not just find some '01-'04 steelies?
