I am hitting the fuel cut-off at 4k RPM on my 2000 Taurus Flex Fuel with Vulcan Engine when in Park. I do not know if this is abnormal, because there is no physical red line on the tachometer. This is my wife's car but she says that she has never reved it enough to hit the redline while driving. I am wondering if it has a different redline in Park from the one while driving.

Anyone has any input?

Yes, my experience is that the rev limiter kicks in earlier under no-load - park/neutral and maybe complete loss of traction like if you hit an ice patch.

Rev limiter is set at 4000 in park and neutral to prevent overheating and damage to the torque converter.

So how come my '03 Ranger has the rev limit at 3k? Do Rangers have a different rev limit or is it because my truck is newer than my Taurus?
