I have a hood that is slightly buckled in the front with no other damage to the front end and I've considered replacing it with one from a junkyard, assuming I can find one in a matching color.

While I've done a lot of auto repairs, body panel replacement is new for me. I see the hood comes off by disconnecting the support strut clips and the four hinge bolts, and the washer fluid hose has to be disconnected.

My questions are, roughly how much does a hood for this car weigh, and how much of a PIA is it to get one alligned? I've heard of the trick of scribing around the hinges on the replacement hood before removing it from the donor car, but any other tips are welcome.

Thanks,
Christopher

The tip you posted is the best one. You will want 2 people for the job, the hood weighs quite a few lbs, no idea. Pop the struts off and try lifting it...make sure you have had your spinach  Any 00-07 Taurus hood will work.
