I replaced my water pump on my 2013 ford Taurus and I can honestly say I will never do that again! It would have been easier to rip the engine out and swap it with a new one. I had a motor mount bolt break, a timing cover bolt head round off, a water pump bolt break with a torque wrench set at 8ft lbs, lost a bolt to the timing cover one of the 3 big ones, ford dealer didn’t order all the parts I asked for, had a hell of a time getting the harmonic balancer back on, and to top it all off it leaks like crazy out the right side of the timing cover. So I failed at this in a major way. I do not recommend anyone try this at home lol They say 12-14hr job it took me 3 days lol

I can sympathize. My daughter owns a '10 Ford Edge with the 3.5 and I'm fully aware of the potential issues with these water pumps. After watching several YouTube videos, there is no way I'm attempting that repair if or when her's decides to let go.

Well it’s not as bad as I originally thought but still the whole job was a nightmare! No leaks, cleaned it up with degreasers and nothing reappeared. Got all the bolts I need from the ford dealer good to go there besides the one that broke on the water pump but it seems ok.

Well as OCD as I am I ended up tearing it back apart and replacing the timing chains, cam sprockets, all the gaskets including the head gasket, and oil pump should be good to go for awhile. It was definitely a learning experience for me. Also what I found on ford-specs.com that they have some incorrect torque specs listed noteably the valve cover screws were listed as 15ft lbs when actually they were suppose to be 89lb in. I’m not sure what else was incorrect on there but I do remember that one.

Yeh his videos are good. The problem I have is that the Cloyes kit I bought for the timing components and cam phasers had issues. The timing chain tensioner on the secondary chain wasn’t doing its job that cleared up on its own but the cam phasers are defective and rattle on cold starts for 3-4 seconds. It’s lasted 9,000 miles so far but that being my first experience with Cloyes brand I’m not sure I could ever buy aftermarket again for anything that goes inside the engine even though it was half as much as the ford brand stuff and had a lifetime warranty. I don’t know if it was a fluke that I got bad parts but I’m not sure I even want to do a warranty replacement on the parts might get the same thing. I also feel like it’s lifetime guaranteed piece of crap parts lol Although just by looking at them they appeared to be of good quality so I don’t know.
