I have 2004 Taurus Sedan SES model.
I need rear Bumper cover
Question:
1. which other years bumper is cover same as 2004?
2. is there any way you can post pdf for instruction to replace rear bumper cover?

I'd like to help you on this one, but I only have the 2004 service manual in book form, not CD..and Chilton online doesn't have any instructions for body panel removal for the 2004 model...go figure...I noticed the .pdf file in the other thread is broken...I know a few people here have the CD version of the service manual...you should get your info soon enough...good luck

You don't need the service manual for this. There should be very few things holding the bumper on. Typically 3 or 4 fastners (screw or push rivets) on each side inside the wheel well. Then there's a 3 or four more on top. After you remove these, you can pull out each upper corner of the bumper cover (snaps in). The whole thing should fall out after that.

You can use 00-07 I believe. Goto www.car-part.com and search for rear bumper cover for 2004. It will list all the ones that are compatible in your area.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Procedure revision date: 07/02/2003

Rear Bumper Cover — Four Door Printable View (182 KB)
Removal and Installation

All Vehicles


Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02.
Disconnect the drain tube.

Remove the pin-type retainers.

Remove the four screws and position the LH and RH splash shields aside to access the rear bumper cover attachment bolts.

Remove the two rear bumper cover to body nuts.

Lower the vehicle.
Open the luggage compartment lid.
Remove the pin-type retainers.

Taurus


Remove the five pin-type retainers, two nuts, and the scuff plate.
Position the LH and RH luggage trim panel aside.

Sable


Remove the three pin-type retainers, two nuts, and the scuff plate.
Position the LH and RH luggage trim panels aside.
All Vehicles


On Taurus, remove the six rear bumper cover nuts and on Sable remove the eight rear bumper cover nuts.

Remove the rear bumper cover.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Thanks for the advise.
I got the bumper out.
I will fix the dents,
now I need to paint it, do I need to use any special care?
sand little bit remove all loose chips and spray paint it?
