I searched and didn't find what I was looking for, so here it is. My wife's Taurus has a cooling fan making a noise. It is the passenger side one and it sounds like something is rattling against it, but I think it is just the motor getting ready to go out in it. I looked on the Auto Zone site at the directions for removal and they say you have to drain the radiator and all kinds of crazy stuff. Is that all necessary, or can you simply move some stuff out of the way and get one of the fans out?

I have a 1997 Sable and was able to get both fans out on the driver's side or where the driver's side fan is mounted. Each fan is mounted with two upper bolts as I recall.

After removing the bolts and wiring wiggle the fan upward. Its a tight fit to remove and install but they will come out on the driver's side only.

I did the fan removal on the Duratec engine. Also keep in mind do not confuse the passenger or driver's side fans. As I was told each fan is different.
