So I've had the flickering oil pressure light when my engine comes to temp only at idle (750rpm). Anything above that and it goes off.
Recently I've had it come on solid at idle and it flickers when I'm sitting at stop lights (foot on brake in drive).
I've got a Vulcan with about 223K on it. When I first saw the light flicker, I changed over to 5-30 (I run Mobil 1 5000). What can I do to resolve the issue? I have not hooked up an actual oil pressure meter.

Either get a new sender or actually hook up a mechanical oil pressure gage. Any cheap air pressure gage will do for testing. 1/4" male NPT is what I believe you need.

If it isn't the sender then you probably need new rod bearings. Not a bad job to do or expensive.

Sheesh, I had to wait 3 minutes for a reply?? :lol2:
Yeah, I know I need to do that (put a gauge on it). I should take a look at it this weekend. Along with that squeaky idler pulley.
Thanks man!
