Getting ready to up-grade the seats in my 96 Taurus GL Wagon. I've found plenty of newer year seats out of Taurus and Sable sedans in my area, but no rear wagon seats. I'm thinking of just getting the front seats now and take my chances of finding a rear later on.
Question is, if I find a rear from a gen 4 is it a stright bolt in to my gen 3.
For info, there are no pull your own salvage yards here--you can look at the cars but the salvage yard pulls the parts, so I just want to make sure the seat will fit.

Hey Grumpy, Where are you located?? I am here in Cleveland Ohio and we have some pull a part lots here. The Cleveland West lot has a bunch of Gen3 wagons right now. I am not sure, but I dont think the seats from a gen4 will work in a gen 3 just becasue of the shape of the seats. If there is anything your looking for that you cant find, I would be happy to help you out and try to get the parts from the lots here is you need them.

I'm in Va., just outside of Staunton.
Thanks for the offer, and if nothing comes up in a few weeks I might take you up on it. There are plenty of sedans here and I'm looking at later models with leather. I'll probably get a set of fronts and try to match them later. I was planning on gen 4 seats as their newer and likely to be in better cond. than gen 3. I' good with wireing so I should be able to swap the newer power seat to my 96 power seat.

All the seats will sway physically between the Gen 3s and the Gen 4s. Bolting points never changed. However the wiring did change, and the seat belts changed as well. Both of which you can easily swap or wire in to match your car.

Hey Nick, so what about the back seats, will those also swap out between gen3 and gen4 wagons?

Yup! All the bolting locations will match up. Just the fabric/coloring will be different. Not sure how the middle seat belt works in a wagon either...

Thanks Bull. Was more concerned about the rear than the fronts. Looking for as late a model as I can find, and I'm not too concerned about color--there are just a few and I can color the interior trim if need be. Mine is the Willow Green and gray, tan, beige, will all work.
Sorry for the model confusion--for some reason I thought gen 4 was the rebadged 500. I did mean the Taurus's up thru 2007. Another brain fart.
