Rear-ended!

:curse:

My low-mileage 2001 Vulcan car got hit the other morning. Ironically enough, it was in the on-ramp to the Ford plant.

My dad was driving to work when a kid in a '92 Grand Marquis came up over the rise to the yield sign my dad was stopped at, locked up his brakes, and slammed the back of the car.

It apparently looked better than it drove, because he tried to get it into the lot, and above 20 mph, the rear end started shimmying and hopping. The left rear wheel was bent inwards and at a 15-degree angle down.

Everyone was sober and no-one was hurt, so that's the good news. Bad news is after the car gets repaired, we'll probably be parting with it. My dad hates the rear sightlines (thick C-pillars and high trunklid) and the fact that it's not a V8 car, and my sister (whose car it was going to be come fall for school) doesn't like the size of it and wants something smaller.

We may start looking at a late model ZX/2 or something similar, and after my dad gives it to my sister, he'll be stuck driving our Windstar.

I am trying to convince him to get a Marauder, though.

Just thought I'd share some bad Bull s***. Hahaha.

That sucks man! :( Glad to hear nobody was hurt though. :) As for the Marauder, I'd be all for that! I was waiting to turn left at an intersection today and an old guy in a Marauder went by me the opposite direction and I heard his exhaust note and almost creamed my pants!! B) :thumb:
Sorry to hear that, but at least everyone's ok.

Marauder...Very nice. :D
that sucks that it happened. i was scared ur g2 got hit. i was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. my sister said she didnt want a taurus, she wanted something smaller, but then we got her to love them and she wants one, she might end up gettin one too...

sightless rearend? ever tried driving a focus... ewwwwwww
After driving my car, that '01 really did seem blind. It's funny, I drove by the Ford plant again today and she was still sitting there, all alone, one wheel crumpled in and under.

I've noticed two other posts about injured bulls. Not good.
I really like the 2003 ZX2 front end, it kind of reminds me of the first gen Mustangs.

Sad thing is, that up here in Canada, there is no such thing as a ZX2 Escort or even escort anymore

I have quite a few friends with ZX2's that absolutely love them! They're good little cars. :)

This is a little off the subject but sunday I was driving back up to college, in good ol upstate NY, and I saw and explorer. No biggie I thought. But when it passed me I saw instead of a flip up door in the back, there was a mini pick up bed!! I was like wtf??!?! And I noticed it had Quebec plates. Is this just a Canadian model of the explorer?

And sorry to hear bout the car TrueBlue. I got rearended on fri at a stop sign 8 miles from my house after a 2 and a half hour drive. But luckily there was no real damage other than a bunch of really really tiny scratches where the guys bumper hit me, and the car being a Silver 01 Taurus, you cant see them from more than 2 feet away. Plus the guy gave me his info and said he owns a bodyshop and if I found anything to call him, I may just do that.

The Marauder is an unbelievably nice car.

My parking lot at work seems to be a magnet for awesome cars. One guy has a 65' Shelby Cobra repro that has a 350 in it (I know...Cobras came with FORD 427s, but this guy still has the 427 badges on it, which is pretty funny), a Marauder, and a guy in my group has a 96' Impala that runs DOCUMENTED 12.7s.

The Impala is forking insane! Auto trans and he burned them up to third gear!

What you saw was an Explorer SportTrac, coming head on it looks exactly like an explorer, but with a pickup bed in the back. Nice truck IMHO

Sorry to hear TrueBlue, I've heard good things about the ZX2, never driven one though :(

OMG! I drove my girlfriends focus the other day, yea that was a bad experience, seeing out that cars rearend is near impossible!
