i would replace the seal. Go to your autoparts store and they sell rebuild kits that include a rubber boot. Im assuming these are drum brakes.

As for the pad, i personally would not worry, but others would say replace it.

A set of breake pads for both sides is about 18$ so just do the whole back end, not just one side.

your getting raped on the pads...i just got some from a local store for 20$ for disk brakes!

As for rebuilding the rear callipers...its fairly easy...

take the calliper off the car....pump the brake till the piston falls out.

Pull out the old seal, place the new one in the grove, strech the seal around the piston that poped out and press the piston back in as far as possible (will not be far)

Then take the ford tool or a set of needle nose and use them to screw the piston back into the assembly.

Once you have it apart it will make alot more sense. and yes, you have to SCREW it back in as there is a parking brake assembly inside
