It could work, but there would be a lot of work and money involved, along with someone that has an EE degree

You just need to hook up to the OBD-II port and with the right protocols the PCM can give you vehicle speed.

Aeroforcetech actually makes 2 1/16" gauges that hook up directly to the OBD-II port and can give you amazing amounts of data:
