I put Taurus on a tow dolly and pulled to another town in PARK. When I arrived at the destination, the front wheels were turned (as if the steering wheel had been turned). I started the engine, turned the steering wheel to straighten the wheels, moved the car down from the dolly.

Once I parked the car in the driveway, both the steering wheel and the front wheels were all straightened. Can someone who knows the mechanics of steering explain this? Did the towing damage the steering mechanism at all? Is there a need for front wheel alignment?

PS: For anyone who is not familiar with tow dolly, the front wheels sit on a pivoting cradle. I suppose the cradle pivots as the tow vehicle/dolly makes a turn.
