Does anyone have techniques they use to prevent dry rot of rubber hoses or boots and seals? Seems like tire conditioner or silicone spray might help, but I'm not sure. I don't think just a UV protectant would do much because most hoses don't see much daylight.

I just want to be able to keep greased fittings that are covered with rubber boots in good shape. Applying something every time you change your oil might be a cheap way to prevent a more expensive repair later.

Nope, silicone spray or tire conditioner will cause dirt to stick to the rubber, accelerating its demise. The best solution is to use better hoses, silicone hoses are more durable than rubber.

The coolant hoses will rot from the inside from my experience.

I don't know exactly what parts you are referring to. But I would agree that they don't degrade by sunlight or uv, but by engine heat. Maybe you can cover the part with a tape or cable cover?
