I have recently lost my power steering and found out that it was due to the failure of my power steering rack. I have a 99, Vulcan. does anybody have a spare rack that they would be willing to sell to me for really cheap?

I'm starting to lose faith in the bull, the front springs went, i had 2 emission sensors fail, power steering rack gone, lost overdrive, and bent a push rod. and i've only put 8,000 mile on it.

I recently had 2 racks go on my 98'. It cost about 521.49 at Pepboys (I know I know I should have went elsewhere) but they were familiar with our car already from our past issues with the heatercore. Also we knew a mechanic there who would work on our car and promise the other careless guys (he actually admitted that they dont care what they do to the cars) didnt screw with it.

When the first one went it started leaking like crazy from the steering arm or something. Then the replacement one started leaking from another spot which they showed us on it when it was out of the car (some kind of non replaceable ring where the whole thing would need to be replaced) which they tried to blame on me, but they replaced it for free. The current one seems nice and fine, took a little longer to break in then the first reman. onem but that one was fubared to begin with. It was squeaky, stiff at startup, little power assist cold, but after 2 weeks it is now perfect.

174.99 - Remanufactured long rack with limited lifetime warranty.
346.50 - Labor for long rack install
