I have a 2004 Sable with the Duratec engine. I have 45,000 miles on the car. Recently I took the car to the shop because I wanted to have the power steering fluid changed. They told me there was no need because the fluid looked good. At 45,000 miles should I still change it anyway or just leave in it....and if I do leave the power steering fluid in how much longer can I leave it in?

Congrats on finding a reputable shop!
Maybe at 60k just do it even if it still looks good. P.s. flush is never recommended on most cars any way.

U can do it if u r not lazy) I think there is no reason to do this if ur power steering works good without any noises.

All fluids are good to change on occasion as they get worn out. Every 30,000 miles would be a good interval and not that expensive to do.

Most often neglected are brake and power steering fluid.

I just did the P.S fluid myself for my 2001 Taurus. Man was that fluid nasty!.

I change PS fluid in all my cars every 3 years or 30,000 miles. Doing this, I have had almost zero PS related problems over the years.
