I'm going to be replacing (hopefully) my reg antenna with a power/automatic one. I would like yours guys inputs on a power antenna from http://www.antennax.com It wouldn't give me the exact website where I could direct you to the exact antenna but its under Ford, Taurus, 1998 its called the "power antenna kit" for 29.99.

I can choose between Black mast (sku #AX-05b) or Chrome (sku AX-05) mast. Does anyone know if this antenna might work for a 98 Taurus. I guess both the connecting and the mounting im worried about. I dont particularly want to splice any wires as my dad would have a stroke. If this were to work which mast would you guys recommend for a silver car the chrome or the black mast. I think a black mast might look pretty good but am kind of heistant.

I'm just looking for your guys opinion. My next step will be to e-mail them and further inquire about it.

Thanks

Nick Saturday

Edit-Well the more I like at this site it seems as if this is more of a generic part. I guess it could be retrofitted for a taurus but I dont think I will mess with this antenna.

the chances of the replacement antennae having the proper wiring harnesses is pretty slim, considering that they don't ask for your model year of car. The different gen's had different harnesses. it would take some splicing and a bit of fabricating to make it fit, but it will work. YOur best chances for getting a bolt-in is to get one from a junkyard. If you don't have a yard closeby, I can look in the one nere in kankakee and see if they have one for you.

I have a factory power antenna and motor w/ factory wiring harness sitting in my garage if you want it. I does need a new mast, but the motor works and the harness is factory so there's no question as to whether it will fit or not. I think you can get replacement masts at pep boys for like $15. BTW, the antenna came off of my 97 LX.
