I recently moved out of my parents house and was coming back to town to visit them when my check engine light came on in my 98 Taurus LX (3.0L Vulcan), The code came up as P1744, This code has been coming up for about a year now and I changed the tranny filter and had the fluid changed a few days ago. I searched the forum and found that this could be the result of a torque converter clutch system solenoid circuit.

My only problem is my car displays no symptoms of any problem what so ever. No noises, no hard shifts, no slippage, nothing it runs smoothly and drives perfectly. The only possible thing I can think of is once in a great while it will idle rough the first time you start it up during the day but it goes away within seconds. Car did it a lot when I bought it over a year ago but cleaning out the IAC solved the problem. So I don't think it is related.
