(the noise is actually coming from the drivers side rear tire area)

Hi all,

I recently successfully switched out a ball joint on my 2000 taurus and now I am noticing a loud "clanging" noise sometimes when i make slow left turns, especially when pulling in/out of steep driveways.

Havent had a chance to get under car, but hopefully this weekend.

I heard it could be something with my rear struts.

Any info regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated, also , I can take pics of certain things if that would make the diagnosis easier.

Thanks
BB

Mine made a popping noise in the rear. When I took the strut out the spring was broke in two.

I will check it out this weekend.

Any word on the difficulty on switching a spring?

Also, any immediate dangers driving with a broken spring (just assuming that is the problem)

Depends on where the spring is broke. Fairly common for them to break right at the bottom. If so, it should be OK to drive until you can fix it. If broke near the middle, park it until it is fixed.
