Okay here's my dilemma with my Taurus. Right after I start it, it idles roughly and sounds like it sort of wants to die. But after about 5-10 seconds the problem disappears and the car is running perfectly fine and sound. This occurs during both cold and warm starts. What could be the problem here? Could the battery be weak?

Please... Spare the responses about the headgaskets. I know that isn't the problem since I replaced them on my own less than 15,000 miles ago.

Thanks in advance.

This morning it didn't do it, but normally it does. I'm thinking maybe the battery since it's almost 6 years old now and it seems a bit weak when I have my headlights on.
