I know for the longest time the stock coils were the best you could get for the taurus vulc. Has this changed? I am not in need for any high performance but it is time for the yearly tune up and now is the time if it is available. Is the ford 9mm wires OK for the vulc? I know the motor craft plugs are best but again has there been any improvements to the plugs that makes it really worth upgrading?

General consensus seems to be upgrading the coil to a Streetfire or Screamin Demon and/or upgrading the wires is a moot point.

Now if you were to add a capacitive discharge system, ie MSD DIS-4, then it would be a whole other story.

The stock ignition system is plenty "hot" and "high performance" coils will do nothing for performance or economy. That is unless you are planning on a 14:1 compression Vulcan that you will be spinning to 9000 RPM.

I have yet to see anything better than the Motorcraft coil pack. Keep in mind the knockoff brands put your ignition system at risk. As some of these items are made overseas, a lot them may have an American label on them but are made from a vendor overseas. Very cheesy.

As far as plug wires, Magnecor ignition cables (magnecor.com) in my option are better than the stock Motorcraft cables. One of the few exceptions when replacing OEM parts. I would go with Motorcraft platinum plugs as well.
