Has anyone tried Lucas power steering stop leak? It's been leaking (and whining) since I bought it a year ago. Last month the mechanic noticed "rack in poor condition" during an engine replacement.

I tried this stuff about 2 weeks ago and so far it's been great! 2 minutes after I added the fluid, the normal LOUD p.s. whine was completely gone and the power steering seemed to...work! How long will it stay this way? I'm guessing a fluid additive is more like a band-aid fix, but maybe someone knows for sure? Thanks!

I used it in a '93 Sable I used to own, and it got rid of the whine and also tightened up nicely a small "herky-jerk" motion in the wheel that was caused by worn rack seals (I believe). I drove if for 20K after that and it was still working great when I sold the car.

I don't use it right now because my PS systems are working fine, but if any of my vehicles were to develop the same symptons as my Sable did, and a regular flush did not relive those symptons, then I wouldn't hesitate to dump a bottle of Lucas in there. I do not recommend using Lucas if your PS system is operating fine, though.
