Here's what the Ford service manual DVD says

The A/C evaporator core orifice has the following characteristics:

l It is located in the aft condenser to evaporator tube.

l It has filter screens located on the inlet and outlet ends of the tube body.

l The inlet filter screen acts as a strainer for the liquid refrigerant flowing through the A/C evaporator core orifice.

l O-ring seals on the A/C evaporator core orifice prevent the high-pressure liquid refrigerant from by-passing the A/C evaporator core orifice.

l Adjustment or repair cannot be made to the A/C evaporator core orifice assembly. It must be installed as a unit. The evaporator core orifice can be accessed by separating a fitting in the condensor to evaporator line.

It must be near the evaporator on the high pressure side. Is orifice an integral part of the high pressure line or a replaceable unit?

It's replaceable

Not an expensive part, but looks like a fair amount of labor to replace including evacuation and recharging.
