One More Tranny Issue

96 LX Duratec. Tranny failed at 54k. Dealer replaced with reman. At 94k wife pulls into garage and I see drops of fluid and a small puddle. I pulled forward and get another puddle. Can you believe it? What are the chances that this isn't another $1800 repair? Not sure I'm willing to pay for another big tranny repair on the car. The question is should I take it back to the dealer or try a new place like Aamco? I'm in Northern Virginia - Woodbridge. Anyone have any suggestions?

I would take it back to the stealership and have them check it. Then take it to Aamco to have them do the work. Dumfries.

The leak could be something as easy as the filler tube is loose. That wouldn't be $1800. Its really hard for me to say where to go for a repair I don't know your area. The best way is to get advice from friends or relative who have experience with a certain shop. In some areas AMACO is great in other area it sucks, dealerships are the same. I would give posting your question in the Northeast Local Chapters Forum a shot. I'm prettys ure there are some VA. members who might be able to help.
Try Malloy in Woodbridge, That is where I got my Sable from, and have had no problems with them. Cowles Ford is right there in Woodbridge as well. Pop the hood and look for yourself to see where the fluid is coming from. If it looks like a loose hose, tighten it down. I live in Mount Vernon, but am away at college, otherwise I might have bben able to take a look. Look for other VA members, I know of a couple who live out near Fairfax that post to TCCA. Good Luck. ;)
I'm also experiencing transmission problem with my 93 Taurus with 162k. I can tell when I'm pulling away from a stop light, the transmission surges from 1st to 2nd and so on. It's intermittent in the past, but lately it's doing quite a bit. I guess I lucky I made it this far. If you find a reputable place around the Manassas, Bristow, Fairfax area please let me know. I always believe in the word of mouth.

Kind Regards,
