I have a Gen 2 GL (3.0) and I want to change my oil. I'm pretty sure I should use 5w-30, but I'm not sure what the difference between that and 10w-30 or 40 would be..? Anyone explain the differences to me? Thanks.

5w30 will work better in temps bellow 0 deg. F, 10w30 will work ok until 0 deg. F., 10w40 will be ok at the same temps as 10w30 but is thicker and you might loose some mpg.

Typical answer would be to use a fully synthetic 5w-30. I personally use synthetic 5w20, 0w30, 5w30 or 10w30 whatever is on hand. using fully synthetic oil will also give you a couple mpg more.

Ford recomended 5w30 for all their cars for a long time, recently they started to recommend 5w20, some people think this is to thin and provides less protection so many stick with 5w30.

I think a 3.0l takes 4 quarts of oil. Put 4 quarts in and then check it on the dipstick a few minutes later and add some if the need be, I usualy fill it til its on the top of the hash marks.
