was driving around enjoying the weather...my rear passenger side pad has been grinding for about a week. (My rear rotors are shot, and the one pad always wears down fast, plus the 1 pin in each of the brakets are jeammed)..anyways I was going into reverse and the rear wheel seized up, and then broke loose when I went forward again. Well the car was fine for a while...then I noticed the grinding wasnt there...so I thought maybe the bad fell off...but usually I would be greated by the nice screech....however I am not...I looked and the pad looks like its halfway on, however when I go to stop I have no pressure in the break pedal at all, and then when i put it to the floor you can feel the e-brake kick in. So do y'all think its just the fact the pad aint there...or do you think I busted the caliper? Theres no fluid leaking from what i can see, i hear no leaks when the pedal is pressed, and the fluid level of the system is fine.....this happened once before but the pedal stayed at its normal pressure.

Oh!! For crying out loud!!!

You got two choices: fix it or keep driving it. Your previous choice selection (of "keep driving it") is INCORRECT! Guess again!

ooo! Just thought of a third option, just shoot the car and put it out of it's misery.

I think you shouldn't have been driving with bad brakes. If you don't make enough to cover the costs of having a properly maintained car, you should park it until it does. Do you want to kill someone or cause an accident? You also waited too long. If you knew the pads were going, and couldn't afford the rotors, you could have just slapped the pads on anyway and it would have fixed it for a little while. Once they start grinding, it's time to replace the rotors.

The caliper might be ok, but perhaps you lost so much pad that the piston came out and the fluid leaked out?
