I'm taking my 98 white SE wagon off the road (rust, but also rear shocks, probably brake lines, more).

I'm offering it here first before craigslist-ing it as a parts car.

Basically this car's value, if any, lies in the AX4N transmission...

In my estimation, this is NOT RESTORABLE (and not worth it in any case). Because of underbody rust, IT CANNOT BE TRANSFORMED INTO A LONG-TERM SAFE VEHICLE. I am particularly worried about the subframe mounts and mounting area.

You CAN drive it home.

I'm thinking that the entire transaxle, axles, and ECU can help another Bull run again.

This has the
-- AX4N transaxle (TR code X on the door sticker), smooth as glass, no leaks... so sorry to give this up... smooth upshifts, smooth downshifts, smooth cruise, strong pull

-- northeast Vulcan (VIN code U, but with Secondary AIR)
-- just beginning to leak at oil pan
-- Secondary AIR tube to manifold rotted, needs replacement (has set SES P0411); might require replacement of exhaust manifold
-- 2 yr old camshaft position sensor (it has set SES P0340)... I'm betting the whole unit (sensor and body) must be replaced; however, no chirping
-- blew Dorman overflow tank lid during one incident of high acceleration last month... yes, this may be a head gasket problem, but there has been no loss of coolant after helping the weak Chinese lid stay on, no sweet smell in exhaust, no water in oil, no smoke on start-up, no smoke on driving, no ticking.

Since I've owned it, I've had the following done:
-- replaced lower right front ball joint (2/08)
-- replaced vehicle speed sensor (9/08)
-- camshaft position sensor (2/07)
-- put in a power driver's seat (but in tan, not the original blue, a kludge)
-- replaced the coolant overflow tank

Axles/CVs seem sound, but no real way to test (no noise on turns, minimal play.) If the originals did not have paper labels on the axles, then these are replacements (and if so, they were replaced prior to 2007, when I bought it.)

Front struts seems sound, again no real way to test.

This was originally a lease or fleet car, then went to a family in Connecticut; I was the 3rd owner. I received no repair records or documentation when I bought it in 2007 (mileage 173,302). I had a CarFax done through a TCCA member but it revealed no issues, accidents or other bad things, just its initial lease-car status. I can't find the CarFax.

Various accessories work:
-- A/C
-- cruise
-- retracting radio antenna (except below 28 deg. F)
-- radio / cassette (no CD)
-- power locks (passenger front and driver rear motors are weak, need repeated pushes on the switch)

Various things don't
-- hood and tailgate glass gas struts (tailgate sheetmetal struts OK, but are going soon)
-- tailgate key

Doors all have rusty bottoms.

Goodyear Aquatread tires have adequate tread but are not worth writing home about.
