I know when people go hook thier car up to a dyno the rpm's get revved up pretty high. If I rev my duratec up it gets to around 4000 rpm and starts to feel like it is coughing or choking. It doesnt do it when I am driving, just when I am sitting in park. Tonight is the first time I have done it so I didnt know about it until a little while ago. Anything I can check like air filters or somewhere else?

All automatic Taurii have two rev limiters. One in the forward gears, which varies depending on which motor/ options you have, and one in park/neutral. The P/N rev limiter is 4000RPM, which is what you were experiencing.

And isn't it funny that it isn't until 4k that the SHO starts sounding vicious?
(I noticed you have an ATX SHO)

I had that with my old 93 ATX, but now I can rev all day long with the MTX.
