I drove my 2000 SE Vulcan at night for the first time last night. Hard to believe I know, but it's true! Anyway, I noticed that I had no visible indication by the auto gear-stick or on the dash as to what gear I was selecting. I presume the letters and numbers by the gear selector (what do you call the auto stick??) should be lit (i.e. D, P) when the lights are on, or at the very least, the dash should show me which is selected. Is this just a blown fuse or dodgy wiring?

Thanks

It should have a backlight associated with it. If your dash lights up, then this shifter indicator should. If not, it could be just the bulb behind it, but more likely wiring. You should be able to take the center console apart pretty easily to take a look.
