The turn signal stalk on my 1992 Sable Wagon LS has lost the ability to turn on the wipers. I twist it and nothing happens. It also operates the high beams, and cruise control (plus windshield washer).

Where should I look to get a new one or is it something I could fix? What will a new one cost? How difficult is it to install?

I purchased mine from rockauto.com for around $49 plus shipping.

Replacement is easy, particularly if you have a repair manual to walk you through it.

Take it out and spray it down with WD 40 until it is dripping out. Then work all the functions. Take the end cap off and clean out the hard grease. Regrease with Vaseline and reassemble. Should be good as new.
