Although I still have some life left on the original Continental TouringContact AS tires, I don't particularly care for the lack of grip they provide, especially during cornering and during wet weather...

Any recommendations for replacements, while staying with the original 215/60 R16 sized tires?

DON'T go w/a directional tread design tire. Too much hassle, they wear poorly
cuz you can't properly rotate them. Even w/perfect alignment tires will wear the edges a bit. A Non-Directional tread can be rotated in the traditional "X" patern
which is best for even tire wear & long life.
I'm running 17in. Nitto Neo-Gens on my 98SE. Great grip, quiet ride, uni-directional, & all weather capable! Check on Tirerack.com or discounttiredirect.com for sizes& brands to fit your car. Good prices too!
