here in the next couple of weeks ill be installing a new sound system in my 93 taurus. i will be getting a jvc kd-r610 head unit, i know that jvc was crap back in the day but from what ive seen from reviews on a few sites this head unit is excellent. the speakers will be from t3 audio, ive done some research on them and so far i like what i see. im not sure if im going to add an amp and sub at this point....i may later but who knows when. has anyone had any experience with a new jvc head unit or t3 audio speakers? i listened to the t3s in the installers little listening room, they sounded pretty good. of course they had an amp hooked to them, so that probly helped a little.

i like t3 audio and hear there good but prefer silk tweets for sound quality.any ways the head unit you picked is good here are a few others with some pointers.

Here is the one similar to the jvc kd- hdr50 I have if you find a 7 band setting it to complicated then go for the one you picked. Any ways here is the one similar to the one I got mine is a older version. There is a ken wood I got that is the same as the one you picked. but you got to buy a I pod adaptor for it I got mine for 26 bucks on e bay were at crutchfield.com there 70 bucks. Here is a tip get a head unit with as many features as possible this way you do not have to add a eq or a multi out or time alignment. Another tip is to keep the line out voltage about 2.5 volts some power acoustic and mtx amps etc… I have had only go to four volts peak and if your output voltage is 4.0 your clipping no matter what.

Others you may want to consider.

This jvc is similar to the one I got except it has 5.0 volt outputs

I am betting this one has time alignment. but more than likely more then you want to spend on a head unit but it is worth it. because you can adjust speaker individually so they sound better this is the head unit below . plus the rca output voltage is 4.0 a little high for me so think about it this is the future of audio. because you do not have to screw up your audio by running the hu eq flat to another eq and x over like audio control has plus it will double what you paid over time for a cheap 100 dollar one.

i hadnt heard of t3 till i went to this installer to figure out what was wrong with the pioneer deh-17 head unit i used to have in it. i probly could of kept the pioneer cause the problem was in the wiring. but the pioneer had only 1 pre amp out put and the jvc has 2. i dont need anymore than that since im going with a factory replacement set up to keep it simple. i wont be adding a sub till after i move. i may add an amp for the mids and highs but who knows.

I ended up geting a VR-3 VRVD400IV head unit. It has a usb, sd card slot, ipod dock plus video in and out. It also has front, rear and sub out. I paid $120 for it, plus install sometime. I would do it myself, but with the video I'm not sure if i want to do that. I've done installs before, so if anyone has any tips let me know.

Well the VR-3 was a piece of crap, hooked it all up and everything. It seemed to work at first but no sound came from the speakers. I took it to an installer to get help, turns out the new head unit was no good. So I took it back and exchanged it for a Sony Xplod head unit, did a quick parking lot install. Now it it works just fine.
