I am finally getting my new sound system installed and piecing it together. I was fortunate to know somone that used to do car audio for about 10 years and many people flocked to his establishment to get his services. He also helped me with explaining how audio works and what items were best.

As it is now, I have the Pioneer DEH7500 headunit and the Pioneer 12 disk cd changer. I have 2 of each thanks to a fedex screw up
Gonna wait it out and eventually sell the other set.

Anyways, I am doing that with Rockford fosgate speakers front and rear. 6 1/2s round. All will have crossovers. Also doing a RF 12" sub and all of it is going to be powered by a RF 4 channel amp rated for about 2400w. This system won't strain the alternator or the battery and that is what I wanted to avoid.

Eventually I will be adding an XM receiver and antenna to complete the system and maybe another 12" sub.

Here is what I have...

Here is what I will be getting in the next month ..

I think this will be a nice system. I am staying clear of the "oval" speakers as I have been told by numerous people that the best speaker - is always round. I have to agree as the sound is alot more crisp and less distorted.

What do you all think? Also, while I have the car doors off and seats out, I want to install sound dampening. I heard alot about the other alternatives to dynamat and wanted to hear everyones opinion on that. One is called brown bread and the other is like dynamat, but I can't recall the name.

Suggestions?

Thanks for looking

there are hundreds of alternatives to dynamat out there.

the most cost efficient thing to use actually comes from home depot, it is called peal and seal. it is dirt cheap, but the only problem is that the adhesive might not be strong enough for vertical surfaces. but it should hold plenty strong as long as you heat the metal surface before applying it. it will do wonders for all of your horizontal surfaces though.

whenever i deaden a car i use peal and seal on the floors, and then a product called raamat for everywhere else. the combo of those two is very cost efficient, and works excellent.

also look around the internet for brown bread, and e-dead. there are lots of others if you search on google for them.

just remember though, for best results you should heat up the metal before you apply the adhesive, this helps for a stronger adhesion.

good luck

So pioneer and Rockford Fosgate are the best?

but yeah dynamat, fatmat, brown bread...all the same...just take ur time and cut it right and every little bit helps. I found fatmat to be a least a little better than the home despot "peal and stick" though in application...but i really couldn't tell a diff in SQ between the two...but both did the job in helping my door stop rattling

Will do

I don't know if RF or Pioneer is the best. I know that I have had pioneer previously and have never had an ounce of problems. The style is not overdone, its not blocky, there aren't too many buttons and its not over priced. So, I buy what has worked for me

I have alot of sound dampening to do soon, but its gonna be fun!
