I bought a sony head unit that puts out 45 x 4 watts. How do I install it to bypass the factory amp in the trunk? Do I need to install new speaker wires to each speaker?

You need to get an adapter that fits into your original radio harness then simply plug it into the back of your new new head unit.

Yes there is a bypass adapter for the stock amp. I had to use one when I put a pioneer head unit in my 91 with premium sound. It sounds much better because if you still use the factory amp you have a 4 ohm head unit running to a 6 ohm factory amp.
