The other day I was driving home in a huge storm and I was unaware of our tornado warning. There was a specific warning for my county for wind gusts of over 70mph- I live in northern Indiana. when I left my house an hour earlier, it was sunny. When I drove home, it was hell. Rain that forced people to pull over because they couldnt see, and people were turning around because trees blocked roads.

I was the unlucky one. The tree fell in front of my car and I hit the brakes. I could see it falling into the road and there was nothing I could do to stop. I ended up hydroplaning sideways into a ditch. I didn't do any damage that time.

I mowed down a mailbox in my own neighborhood not more than 2 minutes after getting out of the ditch. I turned a corner and the wind pushed the back of the car into a hydroplane and I ended up spinning arround twice and mowed down a mailbox in the process. From that picture you cant tell that the bottom part of the bumper is dragging under the car...

Body repair: $1,595.61
Mechanical repair: $4208.01

In the process of ramping up the curb when I went for a spin, I ramped over a boulder next to the mailbox. That tore up the pan under the transmission. It bent the subframe in the front of the car, and it tore the catalytic converter loose on both ends- now the engine sounds like a little four-banger.

The car really doesnt look too bad, but it will cost nearly $5,500 to fix it.
Thankyou State Farm Insurance because we only have to pay $200.

Did I mention that this all happened at 3am?

The tree that ran me off the road.

Must have been a Storm warning then, I never saw a tv. And as to the part about you living in Michigan City, I'll be going to Purdue North Central in 2 more weeks. I'll live at home and drive back and forth. Its only 45 minutes on the toll road and its a straight shot from Granger to there.
The dent gets fixed next week, but the body shop doesnt fix mechanical problems. I'll get that fixed later.
