I have a problem with my 1997 Ford Taurus SHO has 189,500 miles on it.


My car was running fine a few days ago, I was opening it up on the freeway, pulled off and stopped at a light just to see there was light white smoke coming from under my car under near the tires, I pulled over to see light white smoke from the back of the engine bay lasted maybe minute, I noticed some power loss and the engine was rumbling and sputtering when I drove home. My CEL went on. Made it home and had her sit for a day trying to find the problem. My Coolant was very low, which it wasn't a week before No visible coolant leaks either, I did check underneath my cart to see if it was leaking. Only a small oil leak, nothing to concern about. But I decided to drive it up to my local high school (Mile away) and my car idled weird and my CEL was blinking. I can fix some things, but I'm not a mechanical wizard. Help? I'm already tired of having to borrow a KIA

Help! Please soon as possible.

I posted on the forums maybe 18 hours ago asking for some help, but to no avale. Gonna try re-posting it.

I own a 1997 Ford Taurus SHO with 189,500 miles on it. When I turn the car on it?ll start okay, then it?ll sound like it?s heaving, sputtering like it?s gonna die, it?s harder to hear outside of the car, but once you get inside the car you can definitely hear it. Underneath the car something sounds off.

I've moved this to your original thread. There's no need to post an issue, then open a new topic the next day about the same issue. Please make note of that for the future.


First step is to get your codes read and report back. That will tell you a lot more than anyone can guess by the description. Especially being that you said the CEL was flashing which is the pcm telling you there is a misfire.
