My Taurus's Recall Issue

Ok, so i hear this pop noise when i get on the gas hard, and i cant figure it out, so i let my dad listen to it..and he figures out its the engine sucking air that is making a really loud suction noise...

now is that normal? the reason i ask is because the air filters were recalled on my car (2003 taurus) and it says that the old filter could cause damage to the air induction system.. what do you guys think??? think this is why my car makes a suction noise?

Have you checked out the air box and what not yet to see if there is a leak somehow? I, personally (I did), would get a K & N filter, not only are they better and allow more air flow but it would help to rule out your filter as being the problem. Plus it won't catch fire, like the recall says.

go to my Superford account and got to the videos and watch/listen to the intake video and see if it sounds like that.

Its all good... I just think you are over thinking it.. Mine does that. It is more of a GASP sound than a POP.. But yeah, thats just your engine sucking in air real fast..

With me driving the car it makes a popping noise, but with the hood open, and me right there just pushing the throttle with my thumb.. it makes a GASP sound...

Ok FatTortius now what really scares me is.. I took the car to the dealer, and they listend to the gasp sound, and they said it was a spark knock... so they are obviously REALLy wrong..

Now heres my other concern.. the car makes a grinding noise when i rev the engine up (engine grinds when i let off the gas, and the rpms go down).. and they said that was normal..

*sigh*

whats wrong with my car!?!?! lol

The grinding is normal. It's you hitting the rev limiter. Every bull I have had sort of makes a little grinding sound at that spot.
